First of all the question: which distro.

Second of all, did you also set up everything with OpenSync? SynCE-KPM does NOT do any syncing, it will only show the progress of syncing as it is done by sync-engine. To get the PIM data to your PIM application, you must also use opensync with msynctool.

Kind regards,

Hi,

in case things are not working we should see what we can do to make it work again :)

Some questions that might help to achieve this:
* is the phone wm5 or wm6
* What distro are you using?
* What guide did you follow to install the synce-components on your computer
* What exactly is going wrong? (i.e. do you have any error messages that might shine a light on what could be the problem).

I don't know what could cause this. Currently, I am in the middle of moving, so I don't have access to my home computer yet (still in boxes....). you might have better luck with sending an email to the SynCE users mailinglist with this question.

Hi Guido,

I got a problem running kcemirror. Everything with the synCE is OK (syncing, pls, copy, etc). But when I run kcemirror, nothing happened. It simply doesn't show anything, not even a single word of error. My system is: openSuSE 11.1, KDE 4.0. Do you have any solution for this? thanks in advance.

Hi Mako,

the only purpose of this video is to let people see SynCE-KPM in action. SynCE-KPM does not do any syncing by itself, it only shows a sync that is in progress. Furthermore, depending on your distro, it really is this easy ;) For example mandriva has really good out-of-the-box support at the moment.

Regarding the list with things you found, have you seen that these were posts from March 2008? For example, nowadays you will not have to patch your kernel anymore to get the device to be recognized correctly, and these patches have been in the kernel for some time already.

You mention that you are running OpenSuse, but what I don't know is which guides you are following. Did you already try the guide that is on our wiki and if so, what exactly are the things that are going wrong? You mention that the next day the connection is not working, could you please provide more data about that, such as output of dmesg after you have connected the device. Also, do you have a firewall running? Other question, what kind of device is the ipaq? Is it a wm2003 device, or is it a wm5/wm6/wm6.1 device? Especially this last question is important, since the syncing is done completely different if you compare wm2003 compared to the newer devices.

I would like to ensure that SynCE improves, but in order to do so, I will need information about cases when goes wrong ;)

Regards,

Guido Diepen
